Samsung plans to provide waterproof resistance for Galaxy A series phones in 2022

Water-resistance is a key feature of most flagship phones, but more affordable devices are usually given up because of cost. According to a new report, Samsung plans to prioritize the waterproof function of its Galaxy A series in 2022.

Last year’s Galaxy A52 was one of the first Galaxy A devices to adopt waterproof function, and its IP67 rating is not far from that of many flagship devices. However, the Galaxy A52 and its high-end product A72 are the only devices in the series that has a waterproof function.

Moreover, Samsung plans to extend the waterproof function to other Galaxy A devices next year to better compete with Chinese brands such as Xiaomi and OPPO.

Furthermore, it is reported that Galaxy A33 and higher-end A series devices will be waterproof, which is the reason why the Galaxy A33 is rumored to have no headphone jack.

Galaxy A53, A53 5G, and A73 will further provide additional protection. Although this is not a major upgrade for the entire product line, it is indeed a benefit for users of mid-range mobile phones.
