Even if these devices are not purchased directly from Apple’s official or authorized Apple distributors. After logging in to Apple Configurator through the “managed Apple ID” of the organization whose role is the device registration manager, you can provide network configuration for the Mac by sharing the network configuration of the iPhone or selecting the configuration description file to install on the Mac.

Moreover, to assign a mac to an organization, place the iPhone running Apple Configurator close to the Mac displaying the country or region selector in the Setup Assistant, and then scan the image or manually enter the six-digit PIN.

After the Mac is assigned to the organization, it will be displayed in the “Add via Apple Configurator” MDM server placeholder in “Apple Campus Educational Management” or “Apple Business Management”; then the administrator or device registration manager can assign it to the MDM server For “automatic device registration”. The status button in Apple Configurator provides a report about the devices that have been assigned to the organization.

Furthermore, devices allocated and registered in this way behave the same as any other devices registered using “automatic device registration” (including mandatory supervision and MDM registration). The only difference is that the user has a temporary period of 30 days to remove the device from the organization, supervision, and MDM.
