Samsung will introduce the first RGBW sensor ISOCELL GWB next year
Samsung is developing its first RGBW color filter ISOCELL lens. The company confirmed in a webinar hosted by TRANSSION today that this sensor representing Samsung’s ambitions is called ISOCELL GWB. Contrary to previous revelations, its resolution is 64MP instead of 50MP.
The vice president and head of research and development of Samsung Electronics China introduced ISOCELL GWB and called it “the most eye-like image sensor.”

Adding white pixels to the RGB color filter pattern improves the light sensitivity of the sensor. This clever sub-pixel arrangement can obtain brighter images and better color accuracy when taking photos, even in low light conditions.
ISOCELL GWB is probably not Samsung’s only RGBW sensor. If the previous revelations are correct, it means that Samsung may also launch a 50MP RGBW solution next year.
