According to the latest report, AMD has released the EDAC driver code patch for the fourth-generation EPYC processor on the Linux platform a few days ago. Some parameters of next-generation processors are shown in the new patch.
AMD’s fourth-generation EPYC processor, code-named Genoa Genoa, will be manufactured with Zen 4 architecture and support DDR5 memory. The code shows that the processor will support up to 12 DDR5 memory channels, and the previous generation only supports 8 DDR4. These 12 memory channels also increase the theoretical memory bandwidth to 460.8 GB/s, more than double the previous generation.

Moreover, the frequency of DDR5 memory starts at 4800MHz, the voltage is reduced to 1.1V, and it supports fine-tuning of the voltage. Samsung previously announced that the latest technology can increase the capacity of a single DDR5 memory to 512GB. If the next-generation EPYC processors are all equipped with this kind of memory, it will increase the memory capacity of a single processor to 6TB.
AMD previously announced information on the new generation of Zen 4 processor architecture. The new CPU is expected to be manufactured using TSMC’s 5nm process technology, which can achieve up to 96 cores and supports DDR5 and PCIe 5.0 channels. Genoa processors are expected to be released in 2022, in addition to higher specifications “Bergamo” series processors will be released in 2023, with up to 128 physical cores.
