Apple released iOS 15.2 and iPadOS 15.2 update RC preview candidate version for developers, and Apple also released watchOS 8.3 RC version update.

According to the report, watchOS 8.3 RC version extends Assistive Touch to the old Apple Watch, allowing users to control their Apple Watch with only gestures. This feature was previously only for the newer Apple Watch.

Moreover, Apple previewed this feature for the first time in May of this year, working to make its products available to as many people as possible.

AssistiveTouch uses a combination of data from Apple Watch’s onboard sensors to notice subtle changes in muscle movement and tendon activity. Users can use gestures such as squeeze or pinch to control their Apple Watch without touching the screen.

WatchOS’s AssistiveTouch enables people with differences in upper limbs to use Apple Watch without having to touch the display or controller. With built-in motion sensors and learning functions on the device, Apple Watch can detect the subtle differences in muscle movement and tendon activity, allowing you to control the display by pinching or squeezing gestures.

This feature can also be used with VoiceOver, so you can navigate the Apple Watch with one hand while using a cane or holding a service animal. Answer calls and control the screen Move pointer on the computer, and access the notification center, control center, etc.

Furthermore, this feature was previously exclusive to newer Apple Watch models, such as Apple Watch Series 6 and Apple Watch SE. Now, with the recent watchOS 8.3 beta and the candidate version released this week, Apple has extended this feature to older Apple Watches, such as Apple Watch Series 4 and Series 5.
