TSMC reacts to the progress of installing a factory in Germany

According to the latest report, in response to previous market rumors that “TSMC will build a factory in Germany”, He Limei, Chairman of TSMC’s Corporate Social Responsibility Committee and Senior Deputy General Manager of Eurasian Business, pointed out today that there was contact, but it is still in the early stages, and the location has not yet been determined.

Earlier, TSMC Chairman Liu Deyin also mentioned at this year’s shareholder meeting that he was invited by the German government to evaluate “establishing a factory in Germany”, but it is still in a very early stage.

Moreover, TSMC evaluated the establishment of a plant in Germany, and the outside world expects that Dresden, the largest semiconductor industry in Europe, will be the preferred location.

In addition to Germany, TSMC announced in November that it will jointly build a chip factory in Japan with Sony. The factory will be located in Kumamoto Prefecture, Japan, with an initial investment of US$7 billion.
