According to the latest report, it was learned from a number of people familiar with the matter that the ecological chain company Zhimi Technology, which is controlled by Xiaomi, has joined the carmaker, and Ma Yongdong, the former head of GM Pan Asia’s electric vehicle project, has joined, is responsible for Zhimi’s vehicle business.

In addition, the car manufacturing business of Zhimi Technology is currently independent of Xiaomi Motors, and there is no obvious support from Xiaomi’s administrative system for Zhimi Technology. Zhimi’s car manufacturing direction is also passenger cars, and the first car is an SUV.

Moreover, Zhimi Technology is a Xiaomi ecological chain company that specializes in products such as air conditioners and air purifiers. Unlike other Xiaomi ecological chain companies, Zhimi Technology is a subsidiary of Xiaomi, while other ecological chain companies such as Stone Technology and Chaimi Technology have only a small amount of equity investment by Xiaomi.

From business information, it can be seen that Xiaomi co-founder Liu De holds 90% of Beijing Zhimichao’s equity and has actual control rights. Liu De is the initiator of Xiaomi Eco-Chain and often represents Xiaomi Group in holding shares in Eco-Chain companies.

At the end of March this year, Xiaomi Group announced that it would build a car and plan to invest 10 billion U.S. dollars in 10 years, and the first batch of 10 billion yuan will be invested. In September, Xiaomi Automobile Company was formally established with its headquarters in Beijing and its factory in Yizhuang.

The Xiaomi car team has expanded rapidly and currently has more than 500 people. Its R&D centers are located in Beijing, Shanghai, Wuhan, and other places.
