Semiconductor market’s revenue in the Q3 of 2021 rose by 7.6%: Omdia

Omdia released a report saying that semiconductor revenue in the third quarter of 2021 increased by 7.6% from the second quarter, climbing to more than 150 billion US dollars.

Moreover, the report pointed out that the main driving force for the 7.6% growth in semiconductor revenue in the third quarter of 2021 is the memory market. Memory (DRAM, NAND, and NOR) accounted for 29% of all semiconductor revenues. The market grew 12% from the previous quarter in the third quarter of 2021.

Omdia said that in the third quarter, the memory market promoted the steady growth of the semiconductor market and also led to the reshuffle of the top ten rankings in the semiconductor industry. Samsung Electronics surpassed Intel by virtue of its memory business advantages and won the ranking this quarter.

In addition, memory-focused semiconductor companies (Samsung Electronics, SK Hynix, and Micron Technology) accounted for three of the top four semiconductor companies in the third quarter of 2021 and continued to dominate the quarterly revenue rankings.
