Launch 5G millimeter-wave mobile SoC next year: MediaTek

MediaTek CEO Rick Tsai said that although the overall 2022 semiconductor market growth rate will be lower than in 2021, MediaTek will continue to achieve 10-20% revenue growthand will launch the first mobile SoC 5G millimeter-wave in the next year, will also the Wi-Fi 7 solution will be launched early next year.

According to the latest report, Cai Lixing pointed out that MediaTek has received major capacity support in 2022 from its foundries, back-end packaging, and substrate partners, and the shipment situation will be stable next year.

“The post-epidemic era has added many variables to global economic development, and MediaTek will also face many technical challenges, including increasingly complex design architectures and more advanced 3nm and 2nm chip manufacturing nodes.” Cai Lixing said.

According to the financial report released by MediaTek a few days ago, the consolidated revenue for the first 11 months of 2021 was NT$447.212 billion, a year-on-year increase of 54.36%. 

Cai Lixing said that the company’s many product lines performed well in 2021. Sales of mobile phone-related chip solutions increased by more than 110% year-on-year, with a revenue contribution rate of 57%. Non-mobile products including power management ICs and network chips increased by more than 30%.

In addition, Cai Lixing revealed that MediaTek has become one of the leading companies in the field of wireless communication chips, has established a solid layout in the field of Wi-Fi 6/6E, and will launch Wi-Fi 7 solutions in early 2022.
