Xiaomi MIX FOLD 2 will use Samsung Display UTG ultra-thin film glass folding screen

According to the latest report, Samsung Display will supply ultra-thin film glass (UTG) foldable panels to Xiaomi’s second-generation foldable smartphone “Mi MIX FOLD 2.”

The report pointed out that Samsung Electronics started using UTG from the Galaxy Z Flip last year. Since the release of Huawei’s Mate X in 2019, Chinese manufacturers have used polyimide film (PI) instead of glass in the Mate X2 and Xiaomi MIX FOLD launched this year.

In fact, Chinese manufacturers are increasing UTG’s technical reserves and production proportions. On December 15th, Lens Technology stated on the investor interaction platform that folding screens are one of the future development directions of mobile phones, coexisting with mainstream candy bar phones, and still have great potential in market share and shipments.

The company is actively deploying the foldable smartphone market segment, and has deep technical reserves in the fields of foldable smartphone UTG glass, and has established in-depth cooperation with customers to provide one-stop product solutions and services, including but not limited to appearance Protect 3D glass, UTG glass, CPI film, and metal components, etc.

On November 24, Triumph Technology stated on the investor interaction platform that the company’s UTG Phase I mass production line has been completed, and all indicators of product performance are industry-leading. In addition, the company has a full process of “high-strength original film-ultra-thin and thinning-high-precision post-processing” and a national UTG industrial chain. Iterate technology and maintain continuous leadership.

On November 2nd, Henan Innolight Optoelectronics UTG (Ultra-thin Flexible Glass) project in Mengzhou Optoelectronics Technology Industrial Park started.CINNO Research pointed out that UTG cover glass is made of glass that is thinly processed at the level of 30 microns (μm, one-millionth of a meter), and is made through a strengthening process that improves flexibility and durability.

It is characterized by foldable flexibility and retains the original hardness, smooth touch, and surface uniformity of the glass. In particular, it can easily pass more than 200,000 folding tests, and it is also recognized in terms of durability.
