Microsoft trying to repair Win 11 taskbar issues

The taskbar may be the most controversial design in Microsoft’s new Windows 11 operating system. On the one hand, this redesigned taskbar has been criticized by the majority of users, but on the other hand, it has been full of praise.

Although you may not be used to it, the good news is that Microsoft is listening to user feedback and will try to solve the annoying bugs in the current preview.

Unlike previous versions of Windows, the taskbar in Windows 11 is obviously based on modern XAML code and uses the latest WinUI controls. In addition, the Win11 taskbar is written from scratch, so it does not support functions such as drag and drop.

In addition, users cannot change the position of the taskbar from the default bottom view, which may also cause dissatisfaction for some users.

At present, apart from this imperfection, the Windows 11 taskbar has several other known problems. For example, Windows 11 has a bug. When you try to switch input methods, the taskbar may flicker.

There is also a bug that the taskbar prompt (a pop-up window when the mouse hovers over the project) may appear in a place that you did not expect at all. In addition, the user also reported a bug. When the mouse hovered over the icon in the corner of the taskbar too fast, the system did not display the taskbar tooltip information.

The users pointed on Feedback Hub that when the mouse hovers over multiple icons, it will cause tooltips to line up, and will place them when hovering on the taskbar again show them all.

Fortunately, Microsoft has optimized and repaired the new system and strived to improve the reliability of the taskbar. Repair patches for part of the content have been included in the preview version.

Windows 11 taskbar displays an error message

In Windows 11, a bug may affect the battery level displayed on the taskbar. It is worth mentioning that the battery level of the taskbar sometimes displays a percentage exceeding 100%. Some users have already given feedback in the feedback center, saying that Win11 will display a number higher than 100% in some cases.

Of course, this seems to be a bug in the Windows 11 taskbar, and Microsoft has released a fix in the latest preview version. Microsoft said in the release notes for Windows 11 Build 22523: “The battery icon tooltip will no longer accidentally display more than 100%.”

The drag-and-drop function of the taskbar will return soon

At the same time, the sources said that Microsoft is internally testing support for drag and drop on the taskbar.

As we all know, in the previous version of Window, you can directly drag files or icons and other content to the taskbar to form a shortcut, but Microsoft deleted this feature in Win11, so many users expressed dissatisfaction.

The sources familiar with Microsoft’s development situation revealed that this feature will now return in Windows 11 22H2. In addition, Microsoft will add this highly anticipated feature in the preview, but it may still take several months.
