LCD TV panel prices may drop to a low point in Q1, 2022: Omdia

Omdia issued a report stating that due to unpredictable fluctuations in the TV panel supply chain, LCD TV panel prices may experience more significant and frequent fluctuations in 2022.

Moreover, the report pointed out that LCD TV panel prices continued to fall and fell to the lowest point of the previous cycle in the first quarter of 2022.

Furthermore, Omdia said that South Korean TV manufacturers have reduced their demand in the fourth quarter of 2021, and Chinese manufacturers’ demand is still weak, but slightly higher than forecast; both South Korean and Chinese TV manufacturers’ purchase plans for the first quarter of 2022 are fell to a four-year low.

In addition, US retailers are not optimistic about TV sales in the fourth quarter of 2021 and are becoming more cautious in investing in the TV business in 2022.

The report predicts that under the circumstance that both panel prices and procurement volumes reach troughs at the same time, LCD TV panel prices will resume stability and begin to rebound after the first quarter of 2022.
