Acquisition of Xilinx is expected to be finished in the first quarter of 2022: AMD

According to the latest report, AMD issued an announcement of the progress of the acquisition of Xilinx. This acquisition is valued at 35 billion U.S. dollars and needs to be approved by the regulatory authorities of many countries before it can be completed.

AMD stated that it has recently made good progress in completing the regulatory approvals required for the acquisition. The company had previously expected that all approvals would be completed before the end of 2021, but it would be postponed to the first quarter of 2022AMD’s dialogue and communication with regulatory agencies have been fruitful, and all approvals are expected to be completed smoothly.

Moreover, AMD’s previously announced terms or plans for the transaction have not changed, and the two companies continue to look forward to the merger. The chip company Xilinx mainly designs, develops, and sells FPGA chips, including advanced integrated circuits and software design tools. 

Furthermore, the company has also developed an Adaptive Computing Acceleration Platform (ACAP), which supports deep customization for customers. After the completion of the acquisition, AMD will own 74% of the company’s shares, and Xilinx’s current CEO and president Victor Peng will join AMD as president, responsible for Xilinx’s business and strategic development planning.
