ASUS developed an adapter card transfer DDR4 memory to DDR5 memory slots

According to the latest report, showing a memory adapter card was developed by ASUS, which has been tested on the actual device able to operate normally.

This product can transfer DDR4 memory sticks to DDR5 memory slots, which is convenient for users who want to experience the top Z690 motherboard but are not willing to spend a lot of money to buy DDR5 memory.

It can be seen from the figure that the height of this ROG adapter card is relatively large, with many components such as inductors, capacitors, and MOS transistors on the front

Since the power supply of DDR5 memory is +5V DC, and the default power supply voltage of DDR4 memory is 1.2V, the adapter card needs to include a DC-DC power supply circuit. Since the signal pin definitions of DDR4 and DDR5 are different, the adapter card also needs to be processed in terms of signals.

Moreover, DDR5 memory splits a single 64-bit channel into two 32-bit channels, and the total number of bits is inconvenient to achieve the effect of a single dual channel.

Furthermore, Samsung has stated that the current shortage of DDR5 memory is mainly due to the shortage of PMIC power chips and relatively sufficient DRAM particles. Since this adapter card also requires a power chip to step down, the product cannot be supplied on a large scale either.

At present, ASUS has not officially announced this adapter card, and it is unknown whether it will be mass-produced and sold.
