Apple iOS 15 tips and tricks: How to locate a lost device in Find My app

In this article, we will tell you how to get directions to a lost device in Find My app.

“Find My” is an app and service provided by Apple Inc. This feature allows you to connect your iOS devices so that you can find them in case they got lost.

You can use the Find My app to locate and play a sound on a missing iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, Mac, Apple Watch, AirPods, or Beats headphones. To locate a device, you must turn on Find My [device] before it’s lost.

You can use the Find My app on your iPhone to see the location of your device on a map and play a sound on it to help you find it. If the device is online, you see the location of the device. If the device is offline, you see the location of the device the last time it went online or connected to the Find My network.

How to get direction to a lost device:

You can get turn-by-turn directions to your device if you see its location on the map. In iOS 15 you can get additional instructions for supported AirPods if you turned on the Find My network for them and you’re near them.

Step1: Open Find My app.

Step2: Tap Devices at the bottom of the screen.

Step3: Tap the name of the device you want to get directions to.

Step4: Do one of the following:

• Turn-by-turn directions: Tap Directions to open the Maps app. See Get directions in Maps.
• Nearby finding: If you’re near your AirPods, tap Find. Start moving around to locate your AirPods and follow the onscreen instructions. As you get closer, the text will change from “far” to “near” to “here.”
