What is Android Emergency Location Service?

ELS is a tool available on Android devices that allows first responders to locate emergency callers and texters faster and with greater accuracy, using a combination of GPS, cell, Wi-Fi, and sensor data. It is partners with governments, mobile operators, and public safety vendors to launch ELS in a country or region. The partner is responsible for setting up and maintaining an endpoint that can receive ELS location information when a user contacts an emergency number.

How to enable Emergency Location Service on Android 12:

Step 1: To open your device’s Settings app, swipe down twice from the top of the screen.

Step 2: Tap Settings and then tap Safety & emergency.

Step 3: Then turn on or off Emergency Location Services.
