Tesla, which has just raised its price, is doing something about its delivery strategy again: spending $12,000 to choose the FSD intelligent driving system, which can deliver new cars ahead of schedule. Model Y, which used to wait half a year, was immediately shortened to 2 months after selection.
Priority delivery with optional FSD?
That’s right, Tesla’s official website shows that when users book a vehicle, as long as they click on the optional FSD intelligent driving system, the delivery cycle will be shortened.
At present, the models involved include the two main products Tesla is selling: Model 3 and Model Y, while Model S and Model X are not affected.

Prior to this, the lead time for the Model 3 was two months. With the optional FSD, the lead time will be shortened to one month. The Model Y delivery cycle is longer, up to 6 months, and after the optional FSD, the delivery cycle is shortened to two months.
However, Tesla’s delivery strategy is currently only applicable overseas, Official news shows that the current delivery cycle of Model 3 and Model Y is just the opposite of overseas.
The local delivery cycle of Model 3 is 16-20 weeks, which is about 4-5 months. The Model Y can be delivered within 10-14 weeks, which is about 2-3 months.
So far, Tesla has not commented on the change in delivery strategy, nor has it disclosed the reason for the change. It is widely speculated in the market that this change is a promotional method for the FSD system after the price increase at the beginning of the year.
In January of this year, Musk disclosed on Twitter that the price of Tesla’s full self-driving kit Full Self-Driving (FSD) in the United States will rise from $10,000 to $12,000.
As for the monthly subscription price, it will also increase, but Musk did not disclose the specific increase. Moreover, going back, every time Tesla’s intelligent driving system increases the price, it will be accompanied by a promotion.
As early as 2019, when the price of FSD increased to $5,000, Tesla chose to reduce the price of the first-generation Autopilot by $2,000; then when the price of FSD rose to $7,000 again, Tesla chose to give owners the basic version of the Autopilot system for free.
After that, until October 2020, Tesla will push the FSD 2.0 version (FSDBeta), and the price will be raised to $10,000. At the same time, the Tesla FSD system will launch a subscription service, and users can choose to pay for the experience on a monthly basis.
It is worth mentioning that currently, FSDBeta is still in the testing process, users can apply for push, and the pushing range is mainly concentrated in North America. In terms of intelligent driving functions, it is only an enhanced version.
