Ubisoft suffers from ‘cybersecurity incident’

Ubisoft issued an announcement claiming that the company experienced a “cybersecurity incident”, and although attackers’ attempts to breach the company’s security appeared to have failed, Ubisoft launched a company-wide password reset as a precaution.

After all, cyberattacks are no small matter, and some services provided by Ubisoft have been temporarily suspended. However, Ubisoft insisted that none of their systems were compromised, more precisely, no player data was compromised.

As of the press release, all games and services provided by Ubisoft are operating normally, and no hacker group has come forward to declare responsibility for the security incident.

Ubisoft revealed that its in-house IT team is working with “top experts” to investigate the incident. However, to be on the safe side, the company has reset all passwords. As a result, Ubisoft employees, and even partners, had to update their passwords.

While Ubisoft says users are not affected, players should consider changing their passwords or enabling two-factor authentication at their best. It’s a bit of a hassle, but it definitely improves account security.

Moreover, the company mentioned that the security incident failed to obtain or have access to personal information. This suggests that the attackers may have simply triggered the alarm but failed to obtain or steal any sensitive information.

It is worth mentioning that there have been frequent security incidents in the recent period. For example, Nvidia, Samsung, Vodafone, and other companies have suffered cybersecurity threats and attacks before, and now Ubisoft seems to have joined the ranks.
