Loud crying can activate Apple Watch ‘temporary hearing loss’ warning

According to the latest report, unsurprisingly, when the crying reaches 90 decibels, a crying child will trigger the Apple Watch’s ambient noise warning.

Moreover, Apple Watch has a variety of health features, and one of the lesser-known features is ambient noise monitoring. When set in the Noise app, the Apple Watch warns if the wearer is in danger of making more than the recommended daily dose of loud noise.

A parent received a “loud ambient” warning notification on Apple Watch when near a crying child. The notice told them that exposure to sounds of 90 decibels or higher for 30 minutes a day could cause temporary hearing loss.

Moreover, the Apple Health app describes 90 decibels as the equivalent of standing next to a moving motorcycle. Of course, parents don’t need any help from their wearables when it comes to judging whether a baby’s voice is too loud.

Apple warns that exposure to such volumes should be limited to four hours a week without hearing protection. Thanks to more technology like the Apple Watch, researchers are able to determine more about how modern people live and how society affects their health.

Furthermore, Apple Watch-powered study revealed that more than 25 percent of participants were revealed on average to louder ambient noise than recommended by the World Health Organization.
