MediaTek cover the way for independent listing of Bluetooth chip subsidiary Dafa

MediaTek held a board meeting on the 16th and announced that in order to cooperate with the listing of its subsidiary Airoha Technology in Taiwan, it will carry out a pre-listing share sale plan.

According to the latest report, as a Bluetooth chip subsidiary of MediaTek, Dafa Technology provides chips for Sony, Apple’s Beats, JBL, and Xiaomi, and has the world’s largest market share in the TWS SoC market.

In addition to GPS / GNSS SoC, GPON FTTH The market share of SoC, DHL SoC and other fields is the second in the world. At present, Dafa Technology has about 145 million shares, calculated at a price of NT$650 per share, with a market value of NT$94.582 billion (about US$3.3 billion) before listing. 

Moreover, to raise money for research and development, the listing is also aimed at attracting engineers and other workers in a chip industry that is facing a severe labor shortage.

Furthermore, chipmakers from TSMC and UMC to Qualcomm and Intel are ramping up hiring in Taiwan, and an independent listing would undoubtedly be more likely to attract young talent and existing employees.

The market expects that Dafa Technology will be listed in Taiwan in June this year, and will be listed on the market as soon as next year. The chairman of Dafa Technology is currently served by Xie Qingjiang, a veteran of MediaTek Group, and concurrently the general manager.
