According to the latest report, Bengaluru-based startup Oben Electric has launched its first electric vehicle Oben Rorr in India. The electric motorcycle claims a cruising range of up to 200 kilometers on a single charge and starts at 99,999 Indian rupees after state subsidies.
The Oben Rorr will compete with models like the Revolt RV 400, which are also in the same price segment. This electric two-wheeler has up to three riding modes, as well as smart connectivity features like Bluetooth and a fixed battery pack. The motorcycle is fully charged in about two hours using a 15A electrical outlet, which can be installed at the owner’s residence at no additional cost.

Moreover, Oben Rorr is priced from INR 99,999 in India (including state subsidies). Potential buyers can pre-order the electric car through Oben Electric’s official website for a reservation fee of 999 Indian rupees. The electric car will be sold in various cities in India including Bengaluru, Chennai, Hyderabad, Pune, Delhi, Mumbai, Ahmedabad, Surat, and Jaipur.
Furthermore, the company provides a 3-year or up to 60,000 km warranty on the battery and motor of the electric vehicle. Additionally, users can extend the warranty for another two years. The electric car is expected to start shipping to homes in June 2022.
The Oben Rorr EV features a 6.5-inch digital display that shows speed, battery percentage, and range. At the heart of the EV is a 10-kW electric motor that produces 62 Nm of torque. With this power, the electric car is said to go from 0 to 40 km/h in just 3 seconds, and Oben Rorr has a top speed of 100 km/h.
Oben Rorr’s 4.4 kWh lithium-ion battery pack promises a range of 200 kilometers on a single charge. Using a 15A outlet, the battery takes about 2 hours to fully charge. It has three modes – Eco, Urban, and Havoc Performance which users can select for better performance or range.
Another manufacturer’s Revolt RV 400 has a 3 kW electric motor matched to a 3.24 kWh lithium-ion battery pack. The electric vehicle can provide a range of up to 150 kilometers on a single charge. The top speed of the Revolt RV 400 is 85 km/h. The battery takes approximately 4.5 hours to fully charge.
