IPS/FFS technology of desktop monitors accounted for 63.2% in 2021: Omdia

Omdia’s latest report shows that according to the shipment results of desktop LCD panels of various panel manufacturers, in 2021, the penetration of IPS/FFS technology of desktop monitors will account for 63.2%. This proportion is expected to rise to 67.5% in 2022.

Moreover, the wide-viewing liquid crystal technologies for desktop LCDs mainly include TN (Twisted nematic), WVA (TN wide-view film), IPS/FFS, and VA (Vertical Alignment).

According to reports, the IPS/FFS camp consists of LG Display, Panasonic Display (PLD), and BOEThe VA camp includes Samsung Display, AUO, Innolux, Huaxing Optoelectronics, CLP Panda, Rainbow Optoelectronics, and Huike.

Furthermore, Omdia pointed out in the report that, on the other hand, due to the downward trend of small-size panel shipments, the proportion of TN and TN WVF is continuing to decline.

The number of VAs is also growing, but its share will likely decline in 2022 due to the strong growth of IPS/FFS shares in 2022.
