Apple Stores support paid upgrades for Studio Display

Posted on

According to the latest report, although the small print on Apple’s website says that the Studio Display standard stand and VESA stand converter are “not interchangeable”, customers can go to an Apple Store retail store or Apple Authorization after purchase to reconfigure their Studio Display from their service provider.

Moreover, according to internal documents obtained by MacRumors, if a customer purchases a Studio Display with a standard tilt adjustment stand and later decides to use a VESA stand adapter, they can book an appointment with an Apple Retail Store or an Apple Authorized Service Provider and have it installed.

Likewise, if a customer purchases a Studio Display with a tilt-adjustable stand, and later decides to have a stand that is both tilt and height-adjustable, an Apple Retail Store or Apple Authorized Service Provider can accommodate this requirement. Prices will vary based on region, type of bracket or retainer installed, and labor costs.

Furthermore, standalone stand and VESA stand converter upgrade kits are only available to certified technicians and are not sold through the Apple Online Store. Studio Display orders have been delivered to customers since last week.

Key features of the monitor include 27-inch screen size, 5K resolution, 12-megapixel ultra-wide-angle camera with support for centered characters, a six-speaker sound system with spatial audio, a Thunderbolt 3 port, and three USB-C ports. Models with standard glass and a tilt-adjustable stand start at $11,499, plus several upgrade options.
