Apple Studio Display allows ‘Hey Siri’ support on older Macs

According to the latest report, Apple’s new Studio Display can use this function on several old Mac computers that did not support the “Hey Siri” voice command before.

Moreover, Apple only supports the “Hey Siri” command on MacBook Pros released in 2018 and later, but the feature is available on the 2016 and 2017 13-inch and 15-inch MacBook Pros with Studio Display. Likewise, you can use “Hey Siri” on pre-2020 iMacs this way.

In addition, Apple’s newly launched Studio Display also supports the “Hey Siri” function of Mac mini and Mac Pro. Of course, previous Macs did not support this feature when paired with non-Apple-branded displays, including the 2019 Mac Pro and 2018 Mac mini and newer Mac minis.

At present, “Hey Siri” is one of the new functions brought by the A13 chip built into the Studio Display, and other functions also include spatial audio and central face video functions.

The list of Mac computers known to be compatible with Studio Display on macOS Monterey 12.3 or later includes:

  • Mac Studio

  • 14-inch MacBook Pro 2021 or newer

  • 16-inch MacBook Pro 2019 or later

  • 13-inch MacBook Pro 2016 or newer

  • 15-inch MacBook Pro 2016 or newer

  • MacBook Air 2018 or newer

  • iMac (2017 or newer)

  • iMac Pro
