According to the latest report, the official versions of Apple’s iOS 15.4 and iPad OS 15.4 were released to the public last week. One of the new changes is the addition of a “scan document” shortcut for the memo app on the iPhone and iPad, to quickly scan printed or handwritten text.

Apple recently shared a video with step-by-step instructions on how to use the Scan Document feature. On devices running iOS 15.4 or iPadOS 15.4, just open the Notes app, tap the camera icon, tap “Scan Document”, and tap the Insert button after the text has been added to the note.

In earlier versions of iOS 15 and iPadOS 15, scanning text into the Notes app required tapping the note’s text field and tapping the Live Text icon.

Moreover, Apple’s iOS 15.4 and iPadOS 15.4 also introduce a few other features, including the ability to unlock an iPhone 12 or newer with Face ID while wearing a mask, universal controls for compatible iPad models, dozens of new emojis, a new Siri Voice options, the ability to start a SharePlay session directly from a supporting app, and more.
