Sony Entertainment unveiled acquisition of Haven Entertainment Studios
According to the latest report, Sony Group issued a statement saying that it will acquire Haven Entertainment Studios, a Montreal-based video game development studio led by industry veteran Jade Raymond. The specific terms of the transaction are disclosed in a statement.
Haven was founded a year ago with initial funding provided by Sony Interactive Entertainment and has a large portfolio of experienced game creators, some over 10 years old, who have participated in making some of the most popular games in the industry.

Moreover, Raymond, who also previously founded Ubisoft Entertainment and Motive Studios, is one of the main creators behind the Assassin’s Creed franchise. Haven Studios is already working on a project for Sony’s PlayStation, the studio’s first PlayStation game.
The entire video game industry has been going through a wave of consolidation this year. In January, Sony bought developer Bungie, the American video game developer behind the popular Destiny and Halo franchises, for $3.6 billion.
Furthermore, Microsoft Corp. is buying Activision Blizzard for $69 billion, its largest-ever acquisition, while Take-Two Interactive Software Inc. has agreed to buy mobile game maker Zynga Corp. for $11 billion.
The Haven Studios team, which has more than 60 employees, will be the 18th studio to join the PlayStation studio family following the acquisition, Sony said. Studio operations will continue to be managed by Haven’s management team in close collaboration with the PlayStation Studios leadership team.
