Google says Steam Alpha will only be available on “a small subset of new Chromebooks” as it focuses on “devices that can run more games,” including the following:

Moreover, the Steam Alpha version requires an Intel XE graphics card, an 11th-generation i5 or i7 processor, and at least 8GB of memory. In addition, Google points out that games running at resolutions higher than 1080p may encounter performance and scaling issues, so the gaming experience is not very good.
In terms of the game library, Chrome OS can run the same Steam games as Linux, but it can also run Windows games through the compatibility layer Proton.

Use the CTRL+ALT+T shortcut to open the Crosh terminal and enter the following command to install Steam:
