Moreover, Nvidia also announced the addition of BYD and Lucid Group, two automakers who announced that their next-generation models will feature NVIDIA DRIVE. Nvidia said its automotive business will generate about $11 billion in revenue over the next six years.

In the statement, NVIDIA likened the Hyperion 9 autonomous driving platform to the central nervous system. Compared with the previous generation, the number of supported perception hardware has been greatly increased.

It includes 14 cameras outside the car, 9 millimeter-wave radars, 3 Lidar and 20 ultrasonic sensors, as well as 3 cameras and 1 mmWave radar in the interior of the car. It is reported that vehicles equipped with Hyperion will be able to achieve L4 autonomous driving capabilities.

It is reported that Hyperion 9 uses an Atlan chip, which is about 3 times higher than Atlan in terms of computing power. It is expected to be delivered in 2025, while the delivery time of the Hyperion 9 autonomous driving platform is expected to be in 2026.

“The car of the future will be fully programmable, evolving from many embedded controllers to powerful centralized computers, enabling artificial intelligence and AV functions through software upgrades, and extending the life of the car,” said Jen-Hsun Huang, founder, and CEO of NVIDIA.

NVIDIA DRIVE has helped the company achieve great success in building this and become the ideal AV and AI engine for the next generation of electric vehicles, self-driving taxis, and trucks.”
