Moreover, a jury acquitted Mark Forkner of all four counts of wire fraud. Prosecutors allege Forkner defrauded American Airlines Group (AAL) and Southwest Airlines (LUV) to win tens of millions of dollars for Boeing. The maximum penalty for each count is 20 years in prison.

Moreover, during the development of the 737 MAX, Forkner was the chief technical pilot of the model. Previously, Forkne was accused of misleading the FAA about the flight control system MCAS to reduce the training time required for pilots to master the system, thereby making the model more attractive to airlines.
