RTX 3090 Ti FE is the first graphics card to use a PCIe 5.0 16-pin power supply interface

The RTX 3090 Ti is about to be released, the performance of the new generation of cards continues to improve, and the power consumption and power supply are even more “leap”.

According to the news revealed by VC, the overall size of the RTX 3090 Ti FE public version is basically the same as that of the RTX 3090 FE, and it is also a three-slot size, but this is the first graphics card to use a PCIe 5.0 16-pin power supply interface.

Of course, the GPU itself does not support PCIe 5.0 and still stays at PCIe 4.0. The new power supply interface is prepared for the next-generation PCIe 5.0 graphics card, and the RTX 3090 Ti is the first to launch.

In fact, the RTX 30 series public version cards have always used the Molex MicroFit 3.0 12-pin power supply interface, which can be regarded as a preview version of the new 16-pin interface to some extent, but it has never been used by real non-public version cards.

Moreover, the new 16-pin interface can provide up to 600W of power supply, but on the RTX 3090 Ti it is up to 450W, and since the power supply with the new interface is too scarce, it will come with a three 8-pin to 16-pin adapter cable to make it available.

The power supply capacity of the three 8-pin interfaces is also 450W, plus the 75W of the PCIe x16 slot itself, the total power supply capacity is 525W.

Furthermore, the whole card power consumption of the RTX 3090 Ti public version is 450W, and the non-public version is generally higher. For example, in the ASUS ROG STRIX OC overclocked version, the default is 480W, and the maximum can be set to 516W, almost reaching the limit.

However, the performance improvement in exchange for such a high payment is actually only about 5-10%, If it is used as a game card, it is obviously not qualified, but whether RTX 3090 or RTX 3090 Ti, it is not a pure game card, but a semi-professional card, focusing on content creation and so on.
