Tencent and Ubisoft may jointly develop new games

In 2018, Ubisoft announced that some Ubisoft games will be distributed by Tencent in the future, including “Rainbow Six: Siege”. In terms of mobile games, their cooperation with Ubisoft will also bring some games to China. In the future, Tencent will mainly be responsible for localization, distribution, and operation in China.

Nearly four years have passed, and “Rainbow Six Mobile Games” is very likely to meet you in the near future. The revealer @Tom Henderson revealed that Ubisoft will announce a new mobile game product on April 6 this year. The game is a derivative work based on the “Rainbow Six” IP, jointly developed by Ubisoft and WeGame (Tencent).

A source who saw the behind-the-scenes demo said the game “means a lot for the mobile market” and that “it’s going to be a beloved mobile game for Siege fans.” Previously, it was reported that the “Rainbow Six: Siege” mobile game will be jointly developed by Ubisoft and Tencent’s studios.

Moreover, “Rainbow Six: Siege” belongs to the well-known “Tom Clancy” series. It is a first-person tactical shooting game developed by Ubisoft Montreal and published by Ubisoft Software.

The orthodox sequel to the series “after a lapse of 8 years”, while inheriting some elements of the canceled “Rainbow Six: Patriots”. First released on November 26, 2015, Ubisoft revealed at the end of 2020 that the game had more than 70 million players on all platforms at that time.

Furthermore, Tencent released its 2021 financial report last week and revealed in a conference call that there will be projects in cooperation with Ubisoft and other major manufacturers in 2023, which may mean that the “Rainbow Six: Siege” mobile game will be officially launched in 2023.

Additionally, Ubisoft Halifax released a playtest questionnaire last year for mobile gamers’ familiarity with Rainbow Six: Siege, which has been rumored since then. Ubisoft also tried to shut down the pirated game “Area F2” that supported the popular “Rainbow Six: Siege” in some markets last year.

@Tom Henderson also revealed that Ubisoft is preparing at least two mobile game works, both of which are Ubisoft’s core IP, one of which may be the mobile game of “Assassin’s Creed”.

Of course, the two “Assassin’s Creed” IP mobile games “Liaoyuan” and “True Color” that Ubisoft has launched are very unpopular, and their help in performance is very limited. Therefore, at this time, consider cooperating with Tencent, which has dominated the mobile game industry for a long time.

It is worth mentioning that some industry insiders previously broke the news that Ubisoft had licensed the mobile game products of the two IPs “The Division” and “Assassin’s Creed” to Tencent for development, but neither party responded.
