He Limei said TSMC also hopes to establish zero-waste manufacturing centers at Hsinchu Science Park (HSP) and Taiwan Southern Science Park (STSP), where its main fabs are located.
Moreover, these moves are part of the foundry’s commitment to green manufacturing development in Taiwan. He Limei said that TSMC mainly has three emission sources. Of this, 62% came from electricity usage, 24% from supply chain output, and 14% from TSMC’s direct production.
Furthermore, He Limei also said that TSMC hopes to first reduce emissions to 2020 levels by 2030 and eliminate all carbon emissions by 2050.
