Apple’s new Apple Car patent published
According to the latest report, Apple’s “vehicle summoning in the mobile ecosystem” patent was published, the inventors are S. B. Lynch; M. J. Allen; K. L. Ardberg; E・Burton, represented by Ma Mingyue from Beijing King & Wood Mallesons Law Firm.
The patent abstract shows: The present disclosure relates to vehicle summoning in a mobility ecosystem. The present invention discloses a mobile ecosystem including a vehicle with an autonomous control system configured to obtain vehicle information including the vehicle location of the vehicle and obtain user information including user location of user equipment.

Based on a cost function that uses the user information to estimate a value of a confidence level above a confidence threshold, the autonomous control system may determine that the user of the user equipment is ready to be picked up by the vehicle, identify the vehicle based on the user information and the vehicle information pick-up location, and determine the trajectory from the vehicle location to the pick-up location.
Based on the confidence level below the confidence threshold, the autonomous control system may determine that the user of the user equipment is ready for the vehicle to track the user.
Judging from the current revelations, Apple is expected to launch its own intelligent connected car around 2025, tentatively called Apple Car. It is worth mentioning that last year it was reported that Apple originally planned to launch the Apple Car in September 2022, at least two years earlier than the original plan, and its prototype car has been tested on the road in California, USA.
Since the project was approved in 2014, Apple’s electric vehicle plan has experienced many ups and downs, including several leadership changes.
In November 2021, Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman reported that Apple is accelerating work on the project, targeting electric vehicles with fully self-driving capabilities. Gurman said Apple is targeting a 2025 release, but that time could be delayed due to development challenges.
Kevin Lynch, Apple’s vice president of technology, took over leadership of the electric car project last year, according to Gurman. Lynch, who previously oversaw the Apple Watch project, has been with Apple since 2013 and was an Adobe executive before that.
Recently, it is reported that Foxconn and Luxshare are the preferred manufacturers for the production of Apple cars. An insider of Luxshare Precision responded that the company does have a certain business foundation in the car manufacturing industry chain. However, when it comes to specific customers, the company and major customers have signed non-disclosure agreements, so there is no way to disclose this information.
