SK Hynix’s interest in participating in the consortium to invest in Arm was revealed by the company’s vice-chairman and co-CEO Park Jung-ho at a briefing after a shareholder meeting on Wednesday morning local time. Park Jung-ho said at the meeting that they are considering co-investing in Arm with other companies.

Furthermore, Park Zhenghao also said at the meeting that Arm plays a very important role in the international semiconductor ecosystem, and this ecosystem will not allow any single entity to fully enjoy the benefits of acquiring Arm.

SK Hynix is the world’s second-largest memory chip manufacturer and has a considerable market share in both DRAM and NAND flash memory. If they can invest in Arm, it will also help them expand their business scope and play a more important role in the global chip ecosystem.

Besides, SK Hynix is not the only chip maker interested in investing in Arm at the moment, Intel has previously expressed interest. In an interview in February, Intel CEO Pat Kissinger said about Arm’s future that if a consortium emerged, they would probably be very willing to be involved in some way.
