TCL Huaxing explains LTPS low-frequency and low-power display technology

TCL Huaxing issued a document to introduce its low-frequency LTPS (LTPS Plus) technology, the official said that this technology is a new way to make LTPS display screen can be realized through design, drive and process optimization on the basis of conventional LTPS. Achieve low frequency, low flicker, and low power consumption display effects below 30Hz.

TCL Huaxing LTPS Plus Technical Features

  •  Low frequency

Compared with 48Hz low-frequency LTPS mobile phones on the market, TCL Huaxing LTPS Plus technology can support low refresh rates below 30Hz or even 15Hz and can be reduced to a low-frequency state from time to time according to the content displayed on the screen, making switching faster and smoother.

  • Low blink

Compared with conventional LTPS, LTPS Plus technology has greatly improved Flicker at low frequencies. There is no obvious flicker in high, medium, and low brightness and high, medium, and low grayscales, which solves the flicker problem caused by the low-frequency display.

  •  Low power consumption

When the LTPS Plus technology is applied to the low-frequency display of the LTPS mobile phone display, the power consumption of the mobile phone can be significantly reduced, and a major pain point of the short battery life of the smartphone can be alleviated.

  •  Low cost

Based on the existing LTPS process and Flow, through design, drive and process optimization to achieve low-frequency display, compared with the current mainstream low-frequency display technology LTPO, TCL CSOT’s LTPS Plus technology has a cost advantage, reducing the cost by about >10%, the cost strength is better.

Moreover, Visionox recently announced the launch of “the world’s first low-frequency LTPS-TFT low-power solution”, in which the AMOLED display of mobile phones can support a minimum refresh rate of 30Hz, and smart wearables can support the lowest off-screen display (AoD) 1Hz refresh rate.
