Twitter suddenly stopped working on iPhone 6 models

Posted on

According to the latest report, the iPhone 6 mobile phone was discontinued by Apple a few years ago, but some people still use it as their main smartphone, because some applications can still be installed from the App Store.

Unfortunately, some users noticed on Wednesday that Twitter suddenly stopped working on iPhone 6 models because the app now requires iOS 14 or newer.

According to reports from users on the web, the Twitter app has stopped working on the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus. While users can still see some tweets on the timeline, almost all parts of the app are no longer working. 9to5Mac confirms that Twitter does not work properly on the iPhone 6.

Moreover, the Twitter app dropped support for iOS 12 in early 2021, so both iPhone 5s and iPhone 6 users can no longer run the latest version of Twitter’s app.

However, even with older versions of the app, these users had previously been able to access Twitter, although some features were only available with the latest version of Twitter installed. After this week’s Twitter update, which also dropped support for iOS 13, older versions of the app still running on iOS 12 can no longer load all tweets.

If your iPhone is still running iOS 13, you can still get the latest version of the Twitter app by upgrading to iOS 15, as all iOS 13-compatible devices support the latest version of iOS. As for iPhone 5s and iPhone 6 users stuck with iOS 12, the only solution is to visit the Twitter web version.

According to Apple, 63% of iOS devices have iOS 15 installed, while only 7% are running iOS 13 or an older version of the operating system, so most Twitter users won’t be affected by the decision.
