Epic, best known for its Fortnite games, largely lost a trial last year over whether Apple’s rules on fees and payments for app developers were anticompetitive, in an appeal to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit.
“Apple’s review and approval process for apps available on the App Store enhances safety and security,” Roblox said in a legal filing on Thursday.
A senior Apple executive described Roblox’s products as “experiences,” and soon after, Roblox changed the description on its website from “games” to “experiences” and called itself a metaverse company.
Furthermore, Apple says its rules bring several benefits to consumers, including increased security and privacy. Two former CIA directors and 21 other former U.S. national security officials made the argument Thursday with Apple’s backing.
