According to reports, a spokesperson for Meta Platforms, the parent company of Facebook, said that the company will no longer use the new crown vaccine booster as a condition for American employees to resume work offline.
Technology companies have begun to speed up the offline return to work process for employees. Both Meta and Microsoft reopened their physical offices in the US on Monday.

“We updated the requirements in early March to be consistent with the requirements of the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Although we still strongly recommend a booster shot of the new crown vaccine, it is no longer a mandatory requirement for offline resumption of work.” Meta spokesperson emailed “The main vaccine requirements (one-shot or two-shot series) remain the same,” it said.
Less than three months before the change in attitude, the social network operator had just announced its offline resumption requirements.
A Meta spokesman did not explain the change. In California, where Meta is headquartered, 71% of the population has been fully vaccinated and 35% received booster shots, according to The New York Times. The number of new cases in the U.S. has fallen since January.
Moreover, Apple, also located in the San Francisco Bay Area, requires employees to provide proof of booster vaccinations. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) on Tuesday authorized a second booster shot of Pfizer or Moderna for those aged 50 or older who have had their first booster shot for at least four months.
