Moreover, the person said that Novatek had previously signed a contract with Samsung to supply OLED DDI, but considering the possibility of OLED DDI supply shortage, the latter is seeking to have more than one Taiwanese OLED DDI supplier, to meet its growing demand through next year.

For the past year, Taiwan-based DDI has been signing long-term agreements with foundry partners to compete for more than 28nm fab capacity. Novatek and other local DDI companies are eyeing a larger share of the OLED DDI segment and are also looking to participate in the automotive OLED display market, where demand for OLED DDI will grow strongly.

Furthermore, the reports said that OLED DDI supply has become less tight due to disappointing handset sales so far in 2022, but the long-term outlook for demand is bright.
