In addition to this, Greg Miller also said he heard that Sony is planning a PlayStation VR2-focused event in the coming weeks, while discussing three of the more widely circulated PlayStation rumors, one of which is the recent PlayStation Plus related, which has now been confirmed.

The second one is rumors about PS VR2, but Sony has not yet announced the event time or issued an invitation letter, but Sony is definitely doing something similar, just doesn’t know the specific time.

The third revelation is this acquisition. The acquisition is said to be “very large”. “The third one is really hard to pin down because people can hear some wind [about the acquisition], but those who really know the details must have signed nondisclosure agreements,” Grubb explained.

Moreover, Sony had just acquired Canadian studio Haven (which is developing a PlayStation 5 exclusive live service) and Destiny studio Bungie and even spent $3.6 billion on the latter.

After the Bungie acquisition, Sony Interactive Entertainment president Jim Ryan also admitted that “we’re not done yet”, all but confirming that Sony will also add more studios to its first-party roster.

Jim Ryan said that the company will continue to acquire more studios in the future, following the large acquisitions in 2021: “We grow through acquisitions. We acquired five studios in 2021. We are working with Bungie Discuss, we have more plans.”
