Xiaomi App Store stops 32-bit single package upload entry for new apps

In order to promote the 64-bit process of Android apps, all major app stores currently list the upload requirements for 64-bit app packages.

Moreover, the developer has received the Xiaomi App Store “Notice on Closing the 32-bit Single Package Upload Entry for New Apps”. On April 1, 2022, new apps will no longer allow separate 32-bit app packages. Games are not currently restricted.

Xiaomi said that at present, the Arm architecture will gradually limit the operation of 32-bit applications. On the listed Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 and MediaTek Dimensity 9000 platforms, 32-bit applications only support running large cores, which will cause some heat in 32-bit applications.

Furthermore, experience issues such as power consumption; future chips will gradually weaken 32-bit support, which will have a significant impact on compatibility experiences such as running hot 32-bit applications. The flagship device is expected to be launched by the end of 2023, Arm’s IP architecture will only support 64-bit.

Xiaomi Open Platform has released the ” Notice on Android App Upgrade to 64-bit Architecture ” last year.

  • At the end of December 2021: Existing and newly released apps/games need to upload an APK package containing 64-bit packages (support dual packages on the shelf, and 64-bit compatible with 32-bit two forms, no longer receive only 32-bit support APK package)
  • End of August 2022: Hardware supports 64-bit systems, will only receive APK packages with 64-bit versions
  • End of 2023: Hardware will only support 64-bit APKs, 32-bit apps will not work on terminals.
