On April 5, Huawei Technologies Co., Ltd. disclosed a method and system for detecting the drivable area of a vehicle, and a patent related to an autonomous vehicle using the system. The method includes:

  • Using a neural network to process the image data acquired by the camera device to obtain a first probability distribution of obstacles;

  • Obtaining the second probability distribution of the obstacle according to the echo time and echo width of the radar echo signal;

  • According to the first probability distribution of obstacles and the second probability distribution of obstacles, a drivable area of the vehicle is obtained in the form of a probability that represents the probability that the vehicle is impassable.

Moreover, the patent documents show that the automatic driving assistance system includes a camera device, at least one radar, and a processor, and the system is configured to implement the technical solution of the method, and the automatic driving vehicle includes the above-mentioned automatic driving assistance system.

The method of the present application fuses two sensors, a camera device, and radar, and fuses the obstacle distribution information obtained based on the two sensors, and the fused vehicle drivable area is represented in the form of probability.

Therefore, the information about obstacles around the vehicle can be comprehensively obtained, and the detection blind area caused by the blind area of the camera device or the detection range of the radar can be avoided.
