The factory is also the first battery factory in Germany and is currently in the stage of equipment installation. The German factory of CATL mainly consists of two parts: G1 is a factory purchased from other companies to assemble cells into modules. G2 is a newly built plant for the production of cells. This license is a cell production license for G2.
The CATL German factory is almost as complex as the chip factory, with strict requirements for clean rooms, technical cleanliness, and constant humidity. In addition, to make battery production sustainable, part of the factory’s energy comes from solar panels on the factory roof.
The plant has a planned total investment of 1.8 billion euros, a planned production capacity of 14GWh, and will provide a total of 2,000 local jobs in the future. Located in the heart of Germany, the factory will provide products and services to major German automakers to help Europe’s full electrification and energy transition.
