Microsoft Win11 introduces Windows 365 cloud operating system to adapt hybrid office mode
Last July Microsoft announced the launch of the cloud operating system Windows 365 Cloud PC. Now, Microsoft is integrating more of the features of Windows 365 Cloud PC into the Windows 11 operating system.
After the computer with the Windows 11 operating system is started, it can directly enter the Windows 365 Cloud PC cloud operating system, and users can also use the virtual desktop function of Windows 11 to switch back and forth between the cloud operating system and the local computer.

As more and more enterprises begin to adopt a hybrid office model, Microsoft’s strategy is to allow enterprise users to work locally through traditional devices or seamlessly switch to a virtualized cloud operating interface. To this end, Microsoft has deeply integrated three new features of Windows 365 into Windows 11.
The first is Windows 365 Boot, which will enable devices with the Windows 11 operating system to log into the cloud operating system directly at boot, rather than the local system. This feature is designed for shared devices used by multiple people and for businesses that allow employees to bring their own computers to work.
“This feature allows different users to log in directly to the secure Windows 365 Cloud PC cloud operating system with their own credentials,” explained Wangui McKelvey, general manager of Microsoft 365.
In addition, Microsoft is also developing Windows 365 offline capabilities. Work on local devices when users can’t connect to the cloud OS. “When connectivity is restored, the cloud operating system will automatically resync with the Windows 365 on-premises service without data loss, so neither the user experience nor the workflow will change,” McKelvey said.
Finally, Windows 11 also adds native Windows 365 apps. As a result, Windows 11 users no longer need to access the browser and can launch the cloud operating system directly from the taskbar or start menu.
Panos Panay, Microsoft’s head of Windows and Surface operating systems, described the latest features as “the beginning of the integration of Windows and Microsoft’s cloud.” Microsoft hopes to continue to integrate Windows 365 and Windows 11 in the future, and the latest new features herald a new direction for Windows development.
“In the past two years, organizations that embrace digital transformation have flourished,” Panai said. “We can’t always predict what’s going to happen in the future, but from cloud computing to smart devices, we can make sure that Windows is always there. Being at the forefront of technology and user experience will allow businesses to embrace the future for the first time.”
