Apple’s iPhone SE 3 5G and AirPods orders are stable: Report

According to the latest report, despite rumors that Apple will cut orders for its 5G iPhone SE and AirPods in the second quarter, Taiwan-based Apple supply chain companies have pointed out that they have not yet received information from customers about the modification, according to industry sources.

The supply chain companies noted that the second-quarter 2022 shipment estimates initially given by customers were actually lower than market watchers’ consensus estimates and that the pull from Apple was fairly steady, the sources said.

Due to the good sales performance of the previous generation iPhone SE 2, it is believed that the 5G iPhone SE will help Apple to further erode Android’s market share. However, judging from channel reports, pre-orders and follow-up sales were not as high as expected, leading to rumors of Apple cutting orders.

According to industry sources, supply chain companies in Taiwan, China, said that Apple’s initial demand for the 5G iPhone SE was not expected to be particularly high, because Apple will focus on the flagship series in the second half of the year. In addition, supply chain companies typically start preparing for the next-generation iPhone in the second quarter.

In terms of AirPods products, people familiar with the TWS market said that Apple’s AirPods are close to the ceiling of sales growth. Since AirPods are primarily used by Apple users, the market is naturally limited.

Similar to the iPhone, AirPods orders generally fell in the second quarter, the sources said. However, this is not in line with the relatively optimistic expectations of the outside world, and once again triggered rumors of layoffs.

Market insiders believe that Apple may have reported higher estimated demand to some suppliers, causing some suppliers to feel the gap. However, most suppliers are already aware of Apple’s demand in the second quarter.

Some companies have highlighted that the second quarter is typically the worst quarter for Apple’s suppliers. Orders for non-smartphone products rose slightly in the second quarter over the past few years, and this trend is expected to remain unchanged in 2022.
