LG Display senior vice president Lee Hyun-hoo told a conference in Busan hosted by analyst firm UBI Research that the company is evaluating white OLED (W-OLED) and red-green-blue OLED (RGB-OLED) for use in 30 Display OLED panels in the inch range.
Currently, LG Display is developing 8.5-generation (2200x2500mm) OLED technology. This technology cuts OLED panels from a 2200x2500mm glass substrate to manufacture panels for IT products such as tablets and laptops.
Moreover, the panels are expected to be between 10 inches and 20 inches in size, the report said. Lee Hyun-hoo points out that both W-OLED and RGB-OLED approaches have their own advantages. Before making a final decision, the company will review the pixels per inch of W-OLED and RGB-OLED.
