As a result, Ford Otosan has become the first major automaker to mass-produce pure electric vehicles in Turkey. The E-Transit model will be sold in Europe and produced at the company’s plant in the northwestern Turkish city of Kocaeli.

Moreover, Ford Otosan is jointly owned by Ford Motor and Turkey’s largest conglomerate, Koc Holding. In 2020, the two sides announced that they would invest 2 billion euros in Ford Otosan to increase the factory’s annual car production capacity from 455,000 to 650,000.

Furthermore, the factory will also build a battery production line that will produce at least 130,000 batteries a year. Ford officials also stated that more than 5,000 orders have been received for the above-mentioned pure electric models.
