Kioxia released UFS 3.1 embedded flash memory devices for vehicles

According to the latest report, KIOXIA has begun to provide samples of the new Universal Flash Memory (UFS) version 3.1 embedded flash memory device for in-vehicle applications.

The new lineup features the company’s BiCS FLASH 3D flash memory, ranging in capacity from 64GB to 512GB, to support the many evolving needs of automotive applications to enhance the driver experience.

Moreover, Kioxia said that as in-vehicle infotainment systems and advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) become more complex, storage requirements for in-vehicle applications are also growing.

Moreover, UFS is well suited to support the high performance and density needs of these applications. The new devices support a wide temperature range (-40°C to +105°C), are AEC-Q100 Grade2 qualified, and have enhanced reliability for increasingly complex in-vehicle applications.

In terms of performance, the sequential read and write performance of the UFS version 3.1 device is significantly improved over the previous generation device, 2.2 times and 6 times, respectively. These performance improvements help speed up system startup and over-the-air (OTA) updates.
