Over the weekend, Tesla technician Regan Janssen, who happens to be Tesla’s, announced on LinkedIn that she had received the first Model Y with 4680 battery cells made at the Texas Gigafactory.

Janssen didn’t elaborate much on her new Tesla Model Y in her LinkedIn post, nor did she say how many Model Ys with 4680 batteries were delivered. However, Tesla is delivering a standard-range version of the Model Y this time, while Tesla usually delivers the high-performance version first.

Furthermore, more Tesla Model Ys with 4680 cells will be delivered across the U.S. as Tesla Gigafactory Texas ramps up production to be observed. The 4680 battery is based on ternary battery technology, but the size and performance have been upgraded, creating a better price/performance ratio.

Tesla officially announced the 4680 battery cell in September 2021, claiming that the single-cell energy has been increased by 5 times, the vehicle cruising range has been increased by 16%, and the power output has been increased by 6 times.
