YouTube pulls out picture-in-picture feature in iOS app

Posted on

According to the latest report, after trying the feature for nine months, YouTube has disabled the experimental picture-in-picture mode of its iOS version of the app.

YouTube enabled Picture-in-Picture on iOS in August 2021 as an “experimental” feature of the app. By April 2022, YouTube seems to have decided that it’s not worth keeping the feature.

Currently, the PiP experimental feature has been removed from the experimental options. There’s also no option in the app to enable or disable the feature, which the website says has been ” turned off .”

Moreover, some users who previously enabled the feature will still be able to use picture-in-picture, but it’s unknown if it will still be available in the future.

Furthermore, the picture-in-picture feature has only been available for premium subscribers since its launch in 2021. The YouTube TV TV application has also opened the picture-in-picture function since March, and it is unclear whether it will also be offline.
